Wood wins FEED contract for Permian pipeline

ABERDEEN, September 17, 2024 – UK engineering contractor Wood has been awarded the FEED contract for the DeLa Express pipeline project linking the Permian Basin of Western Texas to the US Gulf of Mexico, Wood announced on Monday.

Under the contract, Wood will design approximately 1,000 kilometres of 42-inch diameter mainline pipeline and approximately 225 kilometres of associated laterals. Wood will also manage the compressor station subcontractor, Burrow Global.

 

The DeLa Express project is under development by Moss Lake Partners as a long-haul, large-diameter, liquids-rich natural gas pipeline that will feed Permian gas to US domestic and international markets. One of the pipeline’s target destinations is Cameron Parish, Louisiana, the largest LNG demand centre in North America.

Once complete, the pipeline will have the capacity to transport 56.6 mcm (2 bcf) per day of natural gas and liquids. The added takeaway capacity will help reduce gas flaring and emissions at the source, and the pipeline’s single mainline design will reduce the need for right-of-way clearing.

Wood did not immediately disclose the value of the contract.
