Oman Oil Marketing Company

Oman Oil Marketing Company, operating under the trade name omanoil, is a subsidiary of Oman Oil Company (OQ) that primarily engages in the marketing and distribution of petroleum products. Its principal shareholders are OQ (49%), Oman Cement Company, Bank Muscat and Dhofar International Development and Investment Holding Company. The company is listed on the Muscat Stock Exchange.

omanoil’s main business areas are:

  • Retail distribution of fuel and lubricants
  • Wholesale fuel distribution, including bulk B2B and government sales
  • Aviation and marine refuelling
  • Fuel storage

The company sells fuel and lubricants to retail customers through a network of 109 petrol stations in Oman, which represent about 46% of the country’s retail fuel market. Worldwide, the company has a total of 236 stations, including 30 locations in Saudi Arabia and 12 in Tanzania, and serves an average of 15,500 motorists daily. omanoil offers fuel cards for retail and business customers.

omanoil’s markets a range of engine, transmission and speciality lubricants and greases under the Oman Oil, Castrol and BP brands. The company also offers a range of industrial and marine oils and lubricants to B2B customers.

In the aviation business, omanoil supplies conventional and jet aviation fuel nationwide at commercial and military airports. The company has a marketing partnership with AirBP and is the largest supplier at Muscat Airport.

In the marine segment, omanoil supplies ship-to-ship, container-to-ship and truck-to-ship bunkers at all major ports in Oman, and delivers a range of associated services.

omanoil is currently constructing a bunker terminal at the port of Duqm with 30,000 cubic metres of storage capacity. The terminal will be capable of storing and handling heavy fuel oils and light distillate products, as well as various grades of bunkers and refined petroleum products.

In addition to its hydrocarbons and lubricants businesses, omaoil has a real estate division that rents commercial space for service station operators, vehicular repairs and maintenance providers and warehousing companies, among others.

omanoil is in the process of solarising its services stations, with 12 already connected to the grid and capable of feeding excess power to the Omani network. The company’s installed capacity of approximately 1.5 MW has obtained emissions reductions equivalent to around 1.1 million tons of carbon dioxide.
