Saft to supply BESS for Gurīn Energy’s Japan project

FUKUSHIMA, June 12, 2025 – Saft has been selected to provide a fully integrated lithium-ion battery energy storage system for Gurīn Energy’s new standalone energy storage project in Fukushima, Japan, Saft said on Thursday.

The system will deliver over 1 GWh of storage capacity and 240 MW of power over four hours, helping integrate renewable energy into the Japanese grid and support the country’s targets of 40-50% renewables by 2040 and carbon neutrality by 2050. Saft will supply the complete system including batteries, power conversion and management systems, and its I-Sight cloud-based AI-enabled supervision platform. Installation and commissioning are also included in Saft’s scope.

“Asia is a critical region for the sustained, long-term growth of Saft’s ESS business,” Saft sales and marketing director for energy storage systems Vincent Le Quintrec said. “We are very proud that Gurīn Energy has selected Saft for this project in Japan, which is key for the country’s energy future.”
