Baker Hughes lands key contract for Indonesia’s flagship Tangguh LNG

JAKARTA, August 27, 2025 – Baker Hughes has secured a 90-month service agreement from BP for its Tangguh LNG plant in Indonesia, the company said Tuesday.

The agreement covers spare parts, repair services and engineering support for turbomachinery across three LNG trains, helping ensure operational reliability. It builds on a longstanding relationship between Baker Hughes and BP, which began in 2009 and includes a 2024 award for additional systems at Tangguh’s UCC Project.

The Tangguh LNG facility, located in Papua Barat, has a production capacity of 11.4 million tonnes per annum and plays a critical role in Indonesia’s energy strategy and regional supply.

Baker Hughes will co-operate with local partner PT Imeco Inter Sarana to meet local content obligations under the contract.

Indonesia’s PT Imeco Inter Sarana is expanding its footprint across oil, gas and geothermal services, mining support, power generation and transportation, while also diversifying into property, infrastructure and strategic investments, the company said on its website. Established in 1972, Imeco has grown into a leading industrial services and equipment provider with a strong focus on QHSE and ESG principles, operating from multiple offices and facilities nationwide.

“This long-term service agreement with BP for Tangguh LNG is a testament to our continued partnership and commitment to progressing energy development in Indonesia,” Baker Hughes vice-president of gas technology services Tiffany Pitts said.

Baker Hughes has an established presence in Indonesia through its subsidiaries PT Baker Hughes Indonesia and PT Baker Hughes Energy Indonesia, offering oilfield services such as drilling, refining technologies and energy infrastructure support. The company is also active in ageing field optimisation, deepwater and remote energy solutions, and has participated in national tenders, including operational services for the Rokan block in partnership with Pertamina Gas.

In Indonesia, BP operates the Tangguh LNG project and is expanding its footprint through the Tangguh UCC development to strengthen energy security and support domestic gas needs.
