LUANDA, June 30, 2026 – An Afentra-led consortium has signed the Contract for Services with Risk for Angola’s KON 4 block, marking a new step in the development of the country’s upstream sector, the companies announced on Monday.

Afentra, the operator, is partnered by Grupo Simples, Sonangol EP and Sodedurs in the contractor group. Grupo Simples said on social media that the partnership aims to support value creation, enhance local content and contribute to the sustainable growth of Angola’s energy industry.

Afentra was awarded the licence and a 35% operated interest in the KON 4 block in May 2026. The block covers 1,387 square kilometres in a historically productive area where 11 oil and two gasfields have been discovered and have produced more than 90 million boe to date.

Grupo Simples is an Angolan oil and gas company that operates upstream assets and provides oilfield services. It has interests in several onshore concessions in Angola, including KON 4, KON 5, KON 6, KON 8 and KON 9.

Afentra is an upstream oil and gas company focused on acquiring, operating and developing oil and gas assets across Africa. In Angola, the company has expanded its portfolio through interests in offshore producing assets and is pursuing further growth in partnership with Sonangol and other local companies.
