Galp Energia is a vertically integrated multinational energy company involved in exploration, refining, distribution and marketing of hydrocarbons and derivative products, and in the generation and sale of electricity.

The company divides its activities into four main segments:

  • Upstream
  • Industrial and midstream
  • Commercial
  • Renewables and new businesses

The upstream segment engages in the exploration, development and production of hydrocarbons through a portfolio of about 20 upstream projects located in offshore areas in Angola, Brazil, Mozambique, Sao Tome and Namibia. In 2022 the company had proven and probable reserves of about 668 million boe, of which gas represented approximately 14%.

The industrial and midstream segment engages in refining, logistics, biofuels and cogeneration activities in Iberia, as well as in the storage, transportation and trading of oil, gas, lubricants, various fuels and asphalts. The company also sells electricity to the grids in Portugal and Spain, both for export and import.

Galp’s commercial business encompasses retail sales to B2B and B2C customers of oil, gas, electricity and sundry convenience items through a network of about 1,300 Galp-branded petrol stations located in Iberia and some African geographies.

The renewables and new businesses segment engages in renewable energy generation, mainly through solar PV projects in Iberia and Brazil. It also develops products related to energy storage and the battery value chain.
