The event will bring together national & local government, investors, contractors, operators and new entrants from the 14th onshore licensing round with service companies and solution providers for a two-day summit featuring a conference, networking, technical workshops and break-out exhibition.

The conference will examine key developments across policy, planning, strategy, public engagement and environmental impacts, with a focus upon moving from initial exploration to exploratory drilling. Specific attention will be afforded to discussion of government strategy moving forward, the path to exploratory drilling, the future supply chain, baseline monitoring, health & safety regulation and achieving commercial-scale shale gas extraction.

Speakers attending the event included Gabon’s Minister of Petroleum and Hydrocarbons Etienne Ngoubou, Jacqueline Bignoumba of Union Pétrolière Gabonaise, Total Gabon’s Henri-Max Ndong Nzue, EY’s Erik Watremez, Project Lawyers’ Jean-Pierre Bozec, Sogara refinery’s Pierre Reteno N’Diaye and Joseph-Denis Antchouey of Groupement Professionnel Pétrolier.

Attendees discussed the impact of the economic climate on the country’s energy industry and investment opportunities in the downstream sector. Ngoubou, emphasised the important role that operators throughout the hydrocarbons industry played in educating the local workforce. The petroleum and hydrocarbons minister went on to say that the Gabon Oil Company would play a pivotal role in the country’s initiative to reform the current oil and gas industry in light of declining oil prices.

The past two conferences paved the way for the establishment of IRNDT in 2012 by the Iranian NDT community so that it could take charge of such NDT events in Iran. The Aria Group Company, who was the organiser of the previous two conferences has been chosen to manage the IRNDT2016.
