TIANJIN, May 29, 2024 – Oslo-listed ABL has been awarded a contract by China Offshore Oil Engineering Company (COOEC) to provide marine warranty survey (MWS) services for the build-out of the CRPO 122 project at the Safaniyah oilfield in Saudi Arabia, ABL announced on Tuesday.

Under the contract, ABL will provide MWS to review, survey and approve all operations relating to the transportation and installation of 13 shallow water steel jackets, associated piles, conductors and other project critical items. The jackets and other associated items will be transported to the site from Qingdao, China.

The value of the contract was not disclosed. COOEC won the contract for the installation of the jackets in 2023 for a reported USD 255 million.

“This is a major project that requires numerous specialist experts and skills. In addition, there are multiple locations involved in the transportation and installation work. Projects such as this underline the value of ABL’s global footprint,” said Lyu Liwei, ABL’s China country manager.

Located approximately 260 kilometres offshore Dhahran, Safaniyah is the world’s largest conventional offshore oilfield both by recoverable reserves and production capacity. It is operated by Saudi Aramco.
