ADIPEC 2025 opens with calls for AI, capital and pragmatism

ABU DHABI, November 3, 2025 – ADIPEC 2025 opened in Abu Dhabi with UAE industry leaders urging for policy pragmatism, AI adoption, and greater investment in energy infrastructure.

Held under the patronage of the UAE president and hosted by ADNOC, the event gathered over 205,000 attendees from 172 countries and featured opening remarks by UAE industry minister and ADNOC CEO Dr Sultan Al Jaber. He emphasised that energy systems must be reinforced, not replaced, to meet growing global demand.

Dr Al Jaber called for action to “optimise energy, attract capital, and advance technology to enable progress,” noting that AI, investment and infrastructure are pivotal to this transformation.

Doug Burgum, US Secretary of the Interior, highlighted AI’s potential to reshape the sector, saying: “We now live in a world where we can manufacture intelligence… These are factories manufacturing intelligence.”

Further sessions covered geopolitics, infrastructure finance, AI energy demands and sector transformation, with TotalEnergies CEO Patrick Pouyanné stating, “The planet needs more energy, full stop… that still means more oil and more gas.”

Ian Bremmer of Eurasia Group underscored the urgency of energy expansion: “AI can transform every sector… that will require much more energy, much more infrastructure, far more electricity than we presently have.”

ADIPEC 2025 continues through November 6 with sessions on hydrogen, LNG, digitalisation and energy systems of the future.
