Baker Hughes buys pressure control business for $540 million
HOUSTON, June 17, 2025 – Baker Hughes has agreed to acquire Continental Disc Corporation (CDC) from Tinicum Incorporated in an all-cash deal valued at approximately USD 540 million, Baker Hughes announced on Monday.
Based in Liberty, Missouri, CDC designs and manufactures safety-critical pressure management solutions, including rupture discs, pressure- and vacuum-relief valves and flame arrestors. Its products have applications in sectors including aerospace, chemicals and oil and gas.
“We are excited to enhance our industrial portfolio and expand our addressable market with the addition of CDC’s well-established critical pressure management solutions,” said Lorenzo Simonelli, chairman and CEO of Baker Hughes.
In buying CDC, Baker Hughes aims to complement its existing valve offerings and reinforce its industrial and energy technology segment. The acquisition is part of a portfolio optimisation plan that has led Baker Hughes to create a new pressure control services joint venture and divest its precision sensors and instrumentation product line.
CDC generated USD 109 million in pro forma revenue in 2024, with 80% derived from recurring business, according to the announcement. Baker Hughes expects the acquisition to be immediately accretive to earnings, cashflow and segment margins, and to drive revenues from aftermarket services.
Tinicum is a private partnership that manages a portfolio of manufacturing, distribution and industrial technology companies.
The transaction is expected to close in Q4 2025, subject to regulatory approvals.
