Bangladesh readies to up LNG imports from Oman

MUSCAT, June 20, 2023 – Bangladesh is set to sign a 10-year LNG import contract with Oman, an official at state-owned energy company Petrobangla told Reuters on Monday.

The deal with Oman Trading International will see Bangladesh import between 500,000 and 1.5 million tonnes per year of LNG starting in January 2026.

The country already receives LNG from an existing 10-year contract with Oman Trading International for 1 million tonnes of LNG per year from 2019 to 2029.

In June 2023, Bangladesh also signed an LNG import deal with Qatar to supply 18 million tonnes per year beginning in 2026.
