BP starts up Egypt gasfield
CAIRO, October 26, 2020 – BP has launched production at the shallow-water Qattameya gasfield offshore Egypt, the company announced on Monday.
The field, located in the North Damietta licence, is slated to produce as much as 1.42 mcm (50 mcf) per day through a single well tied back to existing infrastructure.
“By building on bp’s significant existing assets and infrastructure offshore Egypt, we were able to develop Qattameya efficiently and economically,” Karim Alaa, the company’s regional president for North Africa, said.
“We are proud to have brought this project safely onstream through an extremely challenging period.”
