JAKARTA, September 1, 2016 – Chevron’s Indonesian branch on Wednesday announced it had achieved first gas from the Indonesia Deepwater Development’s Bangka Field.
Operating Bangka on a 62% stake, Chevron’s field has a design capacity of 3.12 mcm (110 mcf) and 4,000 barrels of condensate per day. Full operation, originally scheduled for 2018, is slated for 2020.
“The project represents Chevron’s commitment to bring global capabilities and advanced technology to Indonesia and applies best practices and expertise from our deepwater developments around the world,” Chevron IndoAsia Business Unit managing director Chuck Taylor said in a statement.
Chevron’s partners in the USD-12 billion Indonesia Deepwater Development project, which also covers the Gendalo, Gehem, Gandang and Maha fields, are Eni and Tip Top. The second stage of the project should see production increase to 31.2 mcm (1.1 bcf) and 47,000 barrels of condensate per day.
