Chevron, Total strike oil offshore USA
USA SAN RAMON, January 31, 2018 – The Ballymore deepwater prospect in the Gulf of Mexico has yielded a major oil discovery, operator Chevron announced late on Tuesday.
The initial well at the project struck more than 204 metres of net high-quality oil deposits, the statement added.
“The Gulf of Mexico deepwater is an integral part of our company’s long-term strategy,” said Jeff Shellebarger, Chevron’s president for E&P in North America. “This discovery is an important addition to our portfolio, especially with its combination of size, quality and proximity to existing infrastructure.”
Chevron owns a 60% interest at the Ballymore prospect alongside Total, which holds the remaining 40%.
