SANTO DOMINGO, April 15, 2025 – TotalEnergies has signed a 15-year agreement to supply 400,000 tonnes of LNG annually to Energia Natural Dominicana (ENADOM) beginning mid-2027, the company said on Tuesday.

The heads of agreement was finalised between TotalEnergies and ENADOM, a joint venture of AES Dominicana and Energas. The LNG will be priced against Henry Hub and will be used to supply a 470-MW combined-cycle power plant currently under construction in the Dominican Republic.

The contract aligns with the country’s goals to transition away from coal and fuel oil by incorporating more natural gas into its energy mix.

“We are pleased to have signed this agreement to answer, alongside AES and its partners, the energy needs of the Dominican Republic. This new contract underscores TotalEnergies’ leadership in the LNG sector and our commitment to supporting the island’s energy transition. It will be a natural outlet for our US LNG supply which will progressively increase,” senior vice-president LNG Gregory Joffroy said.

“This agreement with TotalEnergies, is the result of the confidence placed in the Dominican Republic’s energy sector and, specifically, in ENADOM and AES. This partnership, alongside ENADOM’s has demonstrated investment capabilities in providing natural gas to the Dominican electricity market by ensuring a reliable, competitive, and environmentally responsible energy supply. ENADOM is proud to play a pivotal role in the expansion and strengthening of the nation’s energy matrix in the Dominican Republic,” CEO Edwin De los Santos said.

TotalEnergies is the world’s third-largest LNG player, managing a global portfolio of 40 million tonnes per year in 2024. The company has interests in liquefaction plants across all continents and operates along the entire LNG value chain, including production, transportation, regasification, trading and bunkering. It also has access to more than 20 million tonnes per year of regasification capacity in Europe. TotalEnergies aims to raise the share of natural gas in its sales mix to nearly 50% by 2030 as part of its broader decarbonisation goals.

ENADOM is a leading gas infrastructure company in the Dominican Republic, formed through a partnership between AES Dominicana and Energas. The company is focused on providing secure and sustainable natural gas solutions to power the country’s growing energy needs.
