Eni announces Angola discovery

LUANDA, December 10, 2018 – Eni announced an oil discovery in the Afoxé exploration prospect located in Block 15/06 offshore Angola on Monday.

The Afoxé-1 NFW well, drilled in a water depth of 780 metres and reaching a total depth of 1,723 metres, showed 20 metres net pay of 37-degree-API oil, the company statement added. Its production capacity is expected to be more than 5,000 bopd.

“Eni is committed to developing this discovery leveraging its best-in-class time-to-market, whilst at the same time launching an intense exploration campaign that will fully support the company’s mid-term organic growth in the country,” Eni CEO Claudio Descalzi said.

The Kalimba and Afoxé discoveries have potential reserves of 400 million-500 million boe in place and could be developed jointly, the company added. Eni expects to drill up to four new exploration wells in Block 15/06 in 2019.
