Entergy and NextEra team up for US solar, storage projects

NEW ORLEANS, June 10, 2024 – US utility Entergy and NextEra Energy Resources have signed a development agreement to accelerate the development of up to 4.5 GW of new solar generation and energy storage projects in the US, Entergy announced on Friday.

The agreement will last five years and is expected to boost Entergy’s capacity to generate low-cost, renewable energy to meet rising electricity demand in the US states of Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas, noted Rod West, group president of utility operations for Entergy.

 

“We believe the power sector is at an inflexion point, and growing electricity demand will be met by low-cost, renewable generation and storage,” said Rebecca Kujawa, president and chief executive officer of NextEra Energy Resources.

NextEra Energy Resources is the world’s largest generator of renewable energy from the wind and sun and a world leader in battery storage. The company has approximately 30.6 GW of total net generating capacity in the US and Canada.
