KrisEnergy spuds third well in Thailand campaign

BANGKOK, April 7, 2015 – KrisEnergy has spudded the third exploration well for its 2015 exploration campaign in block G6/48 in the Gulf of Thailand, the Singapore-headquartered independent oil and gas company announced on Tuesday.

The well is slated to be drilled to a total depth of 2,276 metres at a water depth of 63.4 metres. The company said in a press release the well was intended to test “Early Miocene fluvial sandstones on a broad structural high.”

The Rossukon-3 well is located 1.9 kilometres west of the Rossukon-2 well, which was drilled in March. The company also drilled the Rossukon-2ST well in March.

The wells are being drilled by the Key Gibraltar jack-up rig, owned and managed by Dubai-headquartered Shelf Drilling.

KrisEnergy became the operator at block G6/48 in May 2014. It holds a 30-percent stake in the licence, while Northern Gulf Petroleum controls 40 percent and Mubadala Petroleum holds 30 percent.
