ESPOO, May 28, 2024 – Neste has further expanded its capabilities to supply sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) to European markets by commissioning additional storage and blending capacity in Rotterdam, the company announced on Monday.

Neste’s new facilities are housed in the ETT terminal, owned by Rotterdam-based energy storage and infrastructure development company VTTI. The terminal is located in one of the biggest logistics hubs in Europe and has access to distribution infrastructure such as the Central European Pipeline System.

“This expansion of our supply capabilities enables our customers to accelerate SAF usage at European airports and lays a strong foundation for fulfilling the requirements of the ReFuelEU Aviation Regulation, mandating the supply of a minimum share of SAF to European airports from 2025 onwards,” said Alexander Kueper, vice-president of Neste’s renewable aviation business.

The company will utilise its new facilities to blend and store Neste MY SAF, a sustainable fuel which the company claims can reduce greenhouse gas emissions by up to 80% compared to conventional fossil jet fuel.

VTTI provides infrastructure and storage of fuels, chemicals, gases and other energy-derived products. The company is co-owned by Dutch energy and commodities trading company Vitol, Australian investment firm IFM Investors and ADNOC.
