Pemex calls force majeure on crude cargoes
MEXICO CITY, November 29, 2017 – Mexican NOC Pemex has declared a force majeure on its Isthmus crude for cargo deliveries scheduled for early December, international media reported Wednesday.
As four oil tankers awaited loading at the Port of Dos Bocas, the state-owned company told buyers it could replace the Isthmus cargoes with Maya crude, according to two Reuters sources.
While no reason was given for the measure, the report also said that force majeures on Mexican crude cargoes are not uncommon during winter, when inclement weather often interrupts the loading for a few days at a time.
