RIO DE JANEIRO, October 16, 2024 – The Maria Quitéria FPSO has begun production in the Jubarte field, in the Espírito Santo portion of the Campos Basin offshore Brazil, Petrobras announced on Tuesday.

Maria Quitéria’s placement into position in the area had been brought forward with respect to the schedule set out by Petrobras in its 2024-2028 Strategic Plan, which targeted 2025 for the FPSO’s deployment.

The vessel can produce up to 100,000 bopd and process up to 5 mcm (176.6 mcf) of gas, with efficiencies that yield a 24% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions relative to less advanced units, according to Petrobras. It is stationed at a water depth of 1,385 metres and has the capacity to generate 100 MW of electricity.

The company expects that when Maria Quitéria starts producing at full load it will account for around 40% of Jubarte’s output.

Petrobras is the sole holder of the production rights for the Jubarte field, which is located in Espírito Santo in the area known as Parque das Baleias. The Baleia Anã, Cachalote, Caxaréu, Pirambú and Mangangá fields are also located in this area, where the company has the P-57 and P-58 platforms and the FPSO Cidade de Anchieta already in operation.
