Rokan output to reduce Indonesia’s oil imports by 25%
JAKARTA, August 2, 2018 – Pertamina expects that production from the Rokan block will reduce Indonesia’s oil imports by 100,000 bopd or 25%, international media reported on Thursday.
News that Pertamina will take over the block from Chevron in 2021, when the super-major’s contract expires, broke on Wednesday.
“Right now we import around 400,000 [bopd], and the reduction of 100,000 bopd is pretty significant,” Daniel Syahputra Purba, the NOC’s senior vice-president for strategic growth, told Reuters.
