Saudi Arabia awards first utility-scale wind project
RIYADH, January 11, 2019 – Saudi Arabia’s energy ministry has awarded a USD 500-million contract for the construction of the country’s first utility-scale wind farm, the ministry said on Thursday.
The Ministry of Energy, Industry and Mineral Resources said in a statement it had awarded the project to a consortium led by Abu Dhabi’s Masdar and France’s EDF.
The 400-MW Dumat Al-Jandal wind farm will be located in the northern province of Al Jouf and will supply electricity for up to 70,000 households.
