Technip Energies, SBM Offshore form floating offshore wind JV
PARIS, July 5, 2024 – Technip Energies and SBM Offshore have established a floating offshore wind-focused joint venture, EkWiL, the companies announced on Friday.
The 50-50 joint venture will bring together two leading-edge technologies: Semi-submersible INO by Technip Energies and Tension Leg Platform Float4Wind by SBM Offshore.
The French-headquartered company will be headed by CEO Séverine Baudic, formerly SBM Offshore’s managing director of New Energies & Services.
“It’s just a question of time for market potential in floating offshore wind power to materialise,” SBM Offshore CEO Øivind Tangen said. “This collaboration with Technip Energies ensures the availability of optimal solutions with certainty and reliability in delivery.”
EkWiL will have a core team of 40 specialists and be able to rely on both parent companies for resources for project execution.
“By bringing together two world leading players, EkWiL will accelerate the deployment of industrial solutions for the nascent floating offshore wind market,” Technip Energies CEO Arnaud Pieton said.
