TotalEnergies to develop 1.5 GW of wind off Germany
Germany BONN, June 21, 2024 – TotalEnergies has won a maritime lease for the development of 1.5 GW of wind in the North Sea off the coast of Germany, the company said on Friday.
The 156-square-kilometre maritime concession N-11.2 was awarded to the French company by the German Federal Network Agency following an auction. The award went to the company’s special purpose vehicle Offshore Wind One.
Building on the TotalEnergies’ 2023 win of concession N-12.1 in the German North Sea, where it plans to develop 2 GW, the company foresees developing a 3.5-GW wind hub in the area.
The bid round also saw a win for German energy group EnBW, which will develop 1 GW in concession N-12.3.
Both wind farms are slated to begin operations in 2031.
