UK’s Centrica seals 15-Year LNG supply deal with Petrobras
WINDSOR, February 20, 2025 – Centrica has signed a 15-year deal with Brazil’s Petrobras for the supply of LNG, the UK energy player said on Thursday.
Under the sale and purchase agreement, Centrica will deliver 800,000 tonnes of LNG per year starting in 2027.
LNG will be sourced from Centrica’s existing contracts with Sabine Pass and Delfin LNG supply facilities in the USA. The deal accounts for approximately 30% of Centrica’s US LNG portfolio.
“This agreement demonstrates our approach to building long-term partnerships while derisking our portfolio exposure in the medium term, in turn positioning us to continue growing our portfolio as new LNG supply comes into the market over the coming years,” Centrica CEO Chris O’Shea said.
Petrobras director of energy transition and sustainability Maurício Tolmasquim highlighted that the deal will reduce his company’s exposure to spot market volatility and enhance its competitiveness.
