Seatrium wins FSRU conversion contract for Egypt deployment

CAIRO, May 13, 2025 – Seatrium has secured a contract to convert the LNG carrier Hoegh Gandria into a floating storage regasification unit (FSRU) for deployment in Egypt by Höegh Evi, the company said on Tuesday.

On Monday, Höegh Evi announced it had signed a 10-year time charter with Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS) for the FSRU.

The scope of work includes installation of a regasification skid and integration of key systems such as cargo handling, utility, offloading, electrical and automation systems. Engineering works are set to begin in May 2025 and the conversion is expected to take 18 months.

The vessel will be deployed to the LNG terminal at the Port of Sumed in Egypt under the charter agreement between Höegh Evi and EGAS.
