The National Center for Natural Gas Control (CENAGAS) serves as Mexico’s natural gas grid control centre. It is a decentralised body of the Federal Public Administration attached to the Ministry of Energy (SENER).

CENAGAS operates with two roles: the first, acting as manager of the Mexican Integrated National Transportation and Storage System for Natural Gas (SISTRANGAS) and the second, serving as a natural gas transporter, operating and maintaining its own pipelines.

SISTRANGAS comprises the following pipeline systems:

  • The National Pipeline System
  • The Tamaulipas Pipeline
  • The Zacatecas Pipeline
  • The Bajío Pipeline
  • Ramones I
  • Ramones II
  • Ramones Sur

Furthermore, as a gas transportation company, CENAGAS’s own pipeline system includes:

  • The Natural Gas Pipeline System (SNG), spanning more than 8,700 kilometres with a capacity of 5.71 bcf per day
  • The Naco-Hermosillo System (SNH), covering 340 kilometres with a capacity of 90 mcf per day
