ChampionX Químicos seeks green solutions
ChampionX is an international entity that provides chemical programmes, technologies and engineering services to the upstream and midstream sectors in more than 30 countries.
For more than 15 years, the company has invested in its Angolan joint venture, ChampionX Quimicos, to develop local infrastructure and local expertise to support oil production. Since its inception, the subsidiary has witnessed rising demand for its EOR services.
Services: The company supplies chemicals and offers chemical management services and consultancy. It runs offshore laboratories for operators and has begun supplying digital components and equipment to clients to track and gather data.
Capabilities: ChampionX is able to provide local storage, filtration and decanting services. The company blends around 44% of its products at its in-country facilities.
Current objectives:
- Develop new formulas for its products that use the solvents available in Angola to reduce reliance on shipments from the US and Europe
- Recycle single-use chemical tanks and source alternative energy for its blending plants
- Reduce clients’ carbon footprints and increase sustainable practices in the industry
- Become a key player in the Angolan oilfield services sector by providing local equipment, services and skilled personnel
Local content: ChampionX has a fully Angolan management team, and more than 90% of its workforce and suppliers are Angolan.
