Ecopetrol is the largest company in Colombia, responsible for 60% of hydrocarbons production in the country, and one of the leading integrated energy groups in the Americas, with operations in at least eight countries. Its operations span the hydrocarbons value chain (upstream, midstream and downstream), gas distribution, energy transmission, management of real-time systems, road concessions and telecommunications.

Ecopetrol also owns the two largest refineries in Colombia (Barrancabermeja and Cartagena) and the majority of the infrastructure in the transportation segment.

On the international front, Ecopetrol’s strategic focus is on the basins of the Americas. It operates and participates in exploration and production projects in the USA (Permian Basin and Gulf of Mexico), Brazil and Mexico.

As part of its technology, environmental, social and governance (TESG) agenda, the company is leading several initiatives for diversification and decarbonisation through – among other approaches – renewables, electrification, natural climate solutions and hydrogen.

Under to Ecopetrol’s 2020-2040 strategy, the company aims to keep investing in traditional oil and gas while also betting on a swift energy transition.
