Gabon Oil Company

Gabon Oil Company (GOC) is Gabon’s national oil company, responsible for managing the country’s hydrocarbon resources and driving long-term value creation in the energy sector. As the upstream arm of Gabon Oil, GOC leads exploration, development and production activities across a portfolio of onshore and offshore oil and gas assets. The company is entitled to acquire up to a 15% carried interest in producing blocks to ensure meaningful state participation in strategic energy projects.

Upstream strategy: GOC partners with international oil companies and pursues selective acquisitions to expand its asset base and secure production growth. Its portfolio includes a range of operated and non-operated interests, supported by midstream infrastructure and export capacity. A major milestone was the company’s 2025 acquisition of Tullow Oil’s entire Gabonese portfolio, which included 36 million barrels of 2P reserves and production of around 10,000 bopd. The company’s acquisition strategy has strengthened its role in Gabon’s oil value chain, enhancing national control over key assets.

Strategic assets: GOC is the majority owner of Société Gabonaise d’Entreposage des Produits Pétroliers (SGEPP), a national entity responsible for the storage and conditioning of petroleum products and gas for domestic distribution. The company also owns Pizolub, Gabon’s sole lubricants producer, based in Port-Gentil and serving the domestic automotive and industrial sectors. In addition, GOC holds a minority stake in Bourbon Gabon, which provides marine logistics and offshore support services for the oil and gas sector.
