Côte d’Ivoire to triple oil and gas output by 2027
Côte d’Ivoire ABIDJAN, June 19, 2024 – Côte d’Ivoire President Alassane Ouattara has said his country expects to more than triple its oil and gas production by 2027, Reuters reported on Wednesday.
Production is expected to rise to about 200,000 boepd from 60,000 boepd by 2027, the president said, terming this a “spectacular leap.”
More than USD 15 billion will be invested in the oil sector in that period.
The country aims to become a regional oil and gas exporter as well as an energy hub, the report noted.
Eni‘s 2021 Baleine find, estimated to hold 3 billion boe, stands as Côte d’Ivoire’s biggest ever. The company plans to spend USD 10 billion on the field by 2027.
Eni, active in the country since 2015, has made two discoveries in the area in the past few years.
Production in Baleine started in August 2023 and its current output stands at approximately 22,000 boepd.
