WOKING, August 29, 2024 – Linde has signed a long-term agreement to supply clean hydrogen to Dow’s Path2Zero integrated ethylene cracker and derivatives site in Alberta, Canada, Linde announced on Tuesday.

The company said it will invest more than USD 2 billion to build an on-site integrated clean hydrogen and atmospheric gases facility to produce clean hydrogen and recover hydrogen contained in emissions from Dow’s ethylene cracker.

“This landmark project aligns with our strategy of developing high-quality projects with secured off-take. We are proud to partner with Dow in its mission to decarbonize its Fort Saskatchewan site,” said Sanjiv Lamba, CEO of Linde.

Linde estimates the facility will capture more than 2 million tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions for sequestration each year.

The facility, which is expected to be completed in 2028, will be Linde’s largest single investment and its second new world-scale clean hydrogen project, following the USD 1.8-billion investment to supply hydrogen to OCI’s blue ammonia plant in Texas, announced in February 2023 and expected to start up in 2025.

In addition to their anchor clients, both facilities will also supply clean hydrogen to other new and existing industrial customers seeking to decarbonise their operations.
