Nigerian regulator NMDPRA approves licence for Edo Refinery
LAGOS, August 22, 2024 – The Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) granted an operational licence to the Edo Refinery and Petrochemical Company, a subsidiary of AIPCC Energy, during a ceremony on Tuesday.
The licence represents the final approval required for the Edo Refinery to begin operations. The refinery is a 6,000-bpd modular refinery located in Ikpoba Okha, Edo State. The project represents the first fully private, independent refinery in Nigeria and will produce diesel, naphtha and low pour fuel oil.
Segun Okeni, head of technical operations for AIPCC Energy, also disclosed that the company is currently developing three other projects. Okeni further stated that the company is finalising a deal with an indigenous oil company to access crude.
The Edo Refinery is expected to contribute to the development of industrial operations in Edo State.
