Touchstone starts up onshore Trinidad gas project

PORT OF SPAIN, October 11, 2022 – Touchstone Exploration has begun production at its onshore Coho gas facility in Trinidad and Tobago, the Canadian E&P player announced on Tuesday.

The field has an estimated sustained production rate of 297,000 cubic metres (10.5 mcf) per day.

The Coho area is located on the Ortoire block and is operated by Touchstone Exploration with an 80% stake along with its partner Heritage Petroleum Company with the remaining stake.

The development represents the first onshore gas project to come on stream in Trinidad and Tobago in more than 20 years.

The facility was approved for commissioning in September, with first gas produced on October 10, 2022.

As part of the project, Touchstone Exploration has sold its 2.7-kilometre gathering line that links its Coho play to the existing Baraka gas facility to the NGC.

“Coho production represents the first stage of diversifying our product mix in Trinidad,” said Paul Baay, president and CEO of Touchstone Exploration.

“The Coho facility is capable of 24 mcf [680,000 cubic metres] of gross natural gas per day, giving us the ability to potentially add incremental production volumes through a combination of additional drilling and well optimization.”
