The LNG leader

Qatargas is the largest producer of LNG in the world, boasting a 77-million-tonne-per-year nameplate liquefaction capacity. The company’s ventures include eight LNG projects, two sales gas production facilities, two condensate refineries and two helium production facilities. The company also owns a fleet of Q-Max, Q-Flex and conventional LNG vessels.

  • Expansion: Qatargas will add four LNG trains by 2024, increasing total liquefaction capacity to 110 million tonnes per year.
  • Merger: The 2018 union of Qatargas and Rasgas placed Qatargas in charge of the country’s entire LNG output.

The Qatargas companies are joint ventures between QP, ExxonMobil, Total, Marubeni, Mitsui, ConocoPhillips and Shell. QP owns a majority stake in all Qatargas projects.
