BOGOTA, September 4, 2024 – As NG Energy aims to ramp up much-needed gas supply in Colombia, the company on Tuesday announced the addition of 2.2 mcm (76 mcf) per day of pipeline capacity at its Sinu-9 development in Colombia’s Lower Magdalena Basin.

Upon completion of the infrastructure, the company will reach a total gross capacity of up to 136 mcf per day, or roughly 14% of Colombia’s current daily gas consumption, making Sinu-9 a key development for national energy security.

The company plans a nine-well drilling programme at Sinu-9 conducted over 24 months in order to fill the new pipeline capacity.

The capacity expansion is slated to take place in two stages, with the first of two pipelines scheduled to be constructed over nine months starting in Q4 2024. The second will follow a six-month timeline following the completion of the first stage and the necessary development drilling at Sinu-9.

“As we commence natural gas sales imminently and complete the first stage of infrastructure projects at Sinu-9, we are taking steps to expedite the exploration and development of the block at this pressing time in Colombia as the natural gas shortage in the country is upon us. We are grateful for the swiftness of our JOA Partners in getting this first step done and are thrilled to again work with INFRAES,” said Don Sewell, president and director of NG Energy.

In August 2024, NG Energy commissioned the connecting pipeline between Jobo and the Brujo Central Processing Facility, a key piece of infrastructure for the Sinu-9 gasfield development.

Vancouver-headquartered NG Energy is a publicly traded E&P focused on developing natural gas in Colombia. Its interest in Sinu-9 is 72%.
